The work began with observing the seasonal migration of birds in Pavlosta (Latvia) during a stay at the VVFoundation art residence. Based on the contemplation of local migratory birds, the paths they form, moving lines have become the main focus of my research. Drawing inspiration from Tim Ingold’s book “The Life of Lines”, which does not imply linearity in the meaning of one direction, but presents living beings as a set of threads that they leave behind, moving in different directions, intertwining with each other, they create knots as a means of relationship. What if we imagine ourselves and all living beings as stitches on the fabric of the world, inseparable from it? The installation consists of a video of local birds flying in a circle, a drawn animated line following their movement. A transparent fabric hung on a wooden frame depicts imaginary lines repeating the movement of birds, it sways slightly from the wind from the window, becoming an additional agent of the installation. The frame with the fabric moves during the exhibition, being inside and outside the residence. A small publication contains observations of birds and the local environment (work continues)
